Phobias are illogical fears that are a lot more extreme than a general perception of fear. Phobias can be attached to any scenario, person (like dentist) or object, and the sufferer experiences a strong psychological reaction each time they are exposed to the phobic trigger.

In their minds people with a phobia will perceive the object of their phobia as posing inappropriate amounts of danger and respond accordingly. People that do not suffer with the same phobia are likely to think that the fear is silly mainly because they tend not to perceive the object as posing the same amount of danger.

Though a number of us can relate to having “perfectionist” tendencies, doesn’t necessarily interfere with day to day life like OCD can. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is defined as an anxiety problem and approximately 2% of all individuals are afflicted with this emotional condition.

Checking home appliances, ensuring windows and doors are locked multiple times until they are secure in their minds that it is done and this behaviour is pretty much common place for the OCD sufferer. Checking the stove, gas fire, washing machine, doors and windows might have to be done as many as 20 times or more for some obsessive compulsive disorder sufferers.

OCD can show itself in reaction to countless different anxiety causes. For instance, safety, as anxiety can result in repeated checking of electric gadgets or locks, illness anxiety can lead to excessive hand washing or domestic cleaning, and control anxiety can result in ritualistic motions, such as recurrent praying or arranging of things.

There are lots of reasons why people start using cannabis. A very common reason is to escape from their problems. These problems frequently include depression and mental illness, family problems, or issues within their social lives. Despite the fact that cannabis is not an ‘addictive’ drug per se, dependency can quickly form when used as a way to escape life’s issues. How can cannabis users beat their addiction?

First, we will start with some simple information about cannabis. It can be found in plenty of different forms and with many different levels of potency. For instance, it can be found as oil, resin (hashish), skunk or grass. Despite the fact that they come from the same plant it’s the breed and cultivation of the plant can determine its potency. Cannabis can be brewed as a tea or baked into cakes but in the main it is smoked as a joint or pipe.

Marijuana can be used to aid sleep, lessen pain and improve feelings of relaxation. An important aspect in the dependency is the social aspect and ritualised preparation and sharing of cannabis laced cigarettes, known as ‘joints’, or ‘spliffs’.

Though a primary benefit is relaxation, there are some unpleasant reactions which can counteract this, including paranoia, tension and anxiety and panic attacks as well as short term memory loss, diminished co-ordination and attention, light headedness and hunger. Even if a user might have noticed the adverse reactions, both physically and mentally, they still experience difficulty while stopping. This is normally the point the user is likely to realise they are dependent.
