How A Hypnotic Approach Builds Confidence

October 16, 2014 by Sally Moore

ConfidenceA formula for confidence making use of hypnotherapy.

As a modern society, we are becoming more and more isolated as we interact ever more through personal computers and less and less via personal communications. It is all too easy for people to become isolated from society and as a hypnotherapist I am seeing a lot more evidence of this.

This increase in the use of computers for communicating with friends has a cost, in particular we’re not practicing our verbal communication skills and worse still some of our youngsters are barely learning them at all. Apps like FaceTime and Skype are better as at least we are seeing some of the visual cues, but you just can’t beat a chat over a cup tea or coffee to hone your skills.

How could this lack of social skills affect us now and in the future? People without these skills can feel isolated and is not prepared to meet the needs of a social circumstance; things like get togethers, group meetings and weddings are a real challenge.

We can’t lay all the blame on technology however, these new pressures are making the problem far worse and it just isn’t getting any better.

Teenagers display their frustration, anger, panic and anxiety and stress in a variety of ways exactly like adults do. When young people start to have significant problems with family and friends or start to become forgetful, fractious or annoyed this could be a sign that they’re experiencing feelings of panic or anxiety and/or despair. They could also encounter physical symptoms such as headaches, stomach problems, tiredness, and even hair loss.

August 5, 2014 by Sally Moore

ConfidenceEliminating low confidence.

Most people have experienced times where we genuinely feel more confident than others, but now and then a nasty encounter can knock our confidence and keep it low. Having low self-confidence may mean it is difficult to speak in public, manage stressful scenarios or even attend social events. Usually low confidence can be brought on by having a low self-esteem, and people may evaluate themselves in a negative way; it is typically focused on their physical appearance.

Outward signs of low self-confidence include appearing shy, uneasy or socially withdrawn, especially in confrontational or stressful circumstances.

The essential thing to remember is that individuals are not born with low self-confidence. It is a learned response which is usually the result of a bitter disappointment or failure, bullying, or a lot of critical parenting.

Regretfully, if left untreated, low self-confidence can result in further problems, such as social anxiety, depression, anxiousness and stress. This is why it’s highly recommended to seek help promptly if your self-confidence is knocked for a long period of time, as negative thinking patterns can quickly build and get out of hand. Left untreated, low self-confidence can have a knock-on effect and spread to all areas of life, from our capability to maintain a job to our ability to maintain supportive relationships.
